Recital series "Around the world of classical music in 80 minutes"

Pianist Meryem Natalie Akdenizli, awarded at the IBLA competition in Italy, wowes audiences with her successful program “Around the world of classical music in 80 Minutes” in over 30 recitals in 2010.

During these recitals the young pianist from Stuttgart, Germany, takes her audience along on an unforgettable musical journey through the epochs of classical music.

Beginning in the Baroque epoch she starts the program in her own unique and very charming way giving some insights into the history of music before she plays Bach’s Prelude in E-Major BWV 937. After that she presents Beethoven’s great Sonata No. 23 in F Minor op. 57, Appassionata in E-flat Major No. 52 which Beethoven considered to be his most tempestuous piano sonata until the Hammerklavier, being described as a brilliantly executed display of emotion and music. Liszt’s Etude d’ Execution Transcendante No.10 in F- Minor  a piece from the romantic period raises a real storm full of effusive quick-tempered parts. After the Intermission the journey continues with the Impressionism and a choice of Debussy’s Preludes. The pieces' moods vary wildly, from the "profound calm" of La cathédrale engloutie to the explosive Feux d'artifice. Enriched with little stories and funny anecdotes the journey comes to an end with the grand finale: Liszt’s Ballade No. 2 in B Minor, where Meryem Akdenizli will light fireworks of rhythms and emotions.

Besides her sensitive and expressive way of playing, Meryem Natalie Akdenizli is gifted with a very special talent. Charming and lively, she explains her program by offering the audience not only wonderful musical pictures but also insights into the music history which often raises a smile and fascinates listeners.
